Netra seka

Pouring of medicated liquid or decoction over the eye from a particular height.

Benefits: Reduces pain in eyes, photophobia, burning sensation, foreign body sensation, infection of eye etc.

Dhooma pana

It is a procedure of inhaling medicated smoke through nostrils.

Benefits: It clears the airway, take out excess phlegm, opens the channels of head, reduce excessive sleep, used in diseases of ear, nose and mouth.

Karna dhoomana

Inserting medicated smoke or fumes using a varthi (made up of herbs ,guggulu and ghee) done with Doopana Yantra.

Benefits: In ear pain, infections, otitis externa, etc.

Karna Poorana

Filling ear with medicated oil or liquid for a particular time.

Benefits: Tinnitus, ear pain, temporary loss of  hearing, itching in ear and impact ear wax.

Thalam

Local application of medicated paste or oil in a small quantity on the Sahasradhara Chakra (center of head).

Benefit: To balance Kapha during treatment, reduce Pitta while applying hot oil treatment in head, induce sound sleep, manasika rogas (mentel disorders), head ache and fever.

Pichu

In this procedure a long piece of cotton or cloth soaked in warm medicated oil (according to the condition) is placed over affected area for a specific time.

Benefit: Both Snehana and Swedana at the same time, useful in the area which external vasthi cannot perform, reduce mild pain and reduces vata.

Upanaha

Classical ayurvedic bandaging techniques using herbal paste or medicated oil on particular area.

Benefits: Used in fractures, knee pain, tennis elbow, ligament injury and osteoarthritis.

Dhara

Pouring a continues stream of warm liquid on the affected area or whole body from a certain height for a specific time, liquid may be Kashaya (herbal decoction) or Dhanyamla (fermented medicated liquid) or Ksheera (medicated milk) according to the condition of the patient.

Benefits:

Kashaya Dhara: With herbal decoctions – Kapha or Pitta associated Vata diseases, wounds, eye disorder, vaginal diseases, pain etc.

Dhanyamla Dhara: With fermented medicated liquid – in Pitta conditions, burning neuropathy and reduces inflammation.

Ksheeradhara:  With medicated milk – reduces burning sensation, inflammatory pain and psychological disorder.

External vasthi

Retention of warm medicated oil within a sealed walled frame made of urad dal floor on the affected area for a specific time. It gives the effects of both Snehana and Swedana.

Greava Vasthi – The procedure is done in the cervical region or back of the neck. Reduces inflammation, pain, stiffness and rejuvenate nerves in cervical region. Mainly done for the conditions like Spondylitis, Spondylosis, Intra vertebral disc prolapse of cervical region.

Kati Vasthi – The procedure is done in the lumbar region or low back region. Reduces inflammation, pain, stiffness and rejuvenate nerves in cervical region. Mainly done for the conditions like Spondlytis, Spondylosis, Intra vertebral disc prolapse of lumbar region.

Janu Vasthi – The procedure done on both knee. Reduces pain and delay degeneration of knee, reduce inflammation and help in production of synovial fluid, strengthen the structures around knee. Beneficial in osteoarthritis, knee pain, meniscal tear and ligament injury.

Uro Vasti: Procedure done on heart region, strengthen heart muscles, reduces pain, mainly use conditions like external injury, pain and costochondritis.

Siro Vasti – In this procedure the medicated oil is allowed to stay over the head for certain time using a special leather sheet, reduces Vata in the head, delay degeneration of brain cells, rejuvenate nerve and sense organs. Mainly done in chronic head ache, migraine, sleeplessness, depression, hemiplegia, facial problems, eye & ear disorders.
